The Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) investigated some 187 Data Protection Act incidents at law firms, of which 29% related to security and 26% related to incorrect disclosure of data. FOCUS OF THE DAY: The Law Society has extended its consumer campaign promoting solicitors until the end of October this year, after an increase in traffic to the society’s ‘Find a Solicitor’ website of 18.5% in the first four months. Mike Browne, interim head of communications at Chancery Lane, said visits to the website had increased by almost 300,000 since the campaign was launched on 1 September last year. In a report for this week’s meeting of the society’s membership board, he said 961 law firms had ordered the consumer campaign pack to use locally. Full story - Legal Futures
