Advocates have criticised the state’s recent rental reform legislation, saying it has “watered down” key protections for Queensland renters. They say the draft bill, which is currently before Queensland Parliament, fails to protect tenants from unfair evictions "without cause" at the end of a fixed-term contract. There are calls for the bill to be amended to protect tenants from evictions without grounds at the end of fixed-term agreements.
