Focus of the Day Article:  Solicitors are breathing a sigh of relief following the Court of Appeal’s judgment in Belsner v CAM Legal Services [2022] EWCA Civ 1387. The case challenged the costs recovery system used by many personal injury firms, and concerned deductions from damages recovered on behalf of a client, Darya Belsner, in a motorbike crash claim funded on a conditional fee agreement basis. Today's Highlighted Video Story: A British grandmother has said she is still in shock after being subjected to an invasive medical examination by Qatari officials on the tarmac of Doha’s Hamad International Airport in October 2020. The authorities were looking for the mother of a newborn baby which had been found in a plastic bag in a rubbish bin in the departures lounge.
