Today's video story: A Bosnian Croat war criminal has died after taking poison during the reading of his verdict at the International Criminal Court in the Hague, the AP reports, citing Croatian state television. Slobodan Praljak, 72, a former wartime leader, was seen drinking from a small container as he heard the verdict of his appeal hearing.


Focus of the day story:  A criminal legal aid solicitor who can work only in the evenings because of the need to care for their disabled child is among those who could lose a duty rota slot due to a requirement introduced to tackle the issue of 'ghost' solicitors. The solicitor’s plight was highlighted in a survey carried out by the London Criminal Courts Solicitors' Association, a practitioner group, which says members risk losing their place on duty schemes even though they regularly work on cases.
