Today's video story: They became known as East Timor's stolen generation - around 4,000 children taken from their families in the 1980s and 1990s during Indonesia's brutal occupation. Some were conscripted into the Indonesian military; others taken by religious groups or state institutions. Indonesia calls them the "separated children" and denies they were taken by force. Now a local NGO is taking them back to East Timor - now an independent nation - for the first time.
Focus of the day story: Some 55% of legal professionals are dissatisfied with pay, according to the Hays Legal UK Salary Guide 2017. It found that legal professionals had one of the lowest average salary increases in 2016, at one per cent, when compared with other industries covered in the guide. Full story - New Law Journal
