Today's video story: A post office worker foiled a knife-wielding robber in Cardiff by lashing out with a baseball bat. Paula Hooper, 52, struck the masked man on the arm when he demanded money from the till at Ely post office at about 08:30 BST on Tuesday. CCTV footage then shows her chasing the man out of the shop from behind the counter. Ms Hooper said she thought the incident was a "Halloween joke" at first. Postmaster Shady Taha, who was in his office at the time of the incident, described her as the "hero of the day".
Focus of the Day story: History shows the pliability of lawyers during times of political upheaval. ‘Lawyers who do not choose the dark side will have to show that the rule of law is worth fighting for,’ says Sir Geoffrey Nice QC. Full story - Solicitors Journal
