FOCUS OF THE DAY: An attempt to deny legal aid to a woman suing the police for false imprisonment has been defeated in the high court, overturning restrictions imposed following government cuts. The decision by Mr Justice Dingemans is the latest in a series of judicial setbacks for the Legal Aid Agency (LAA) and the Ministry of Justice, which are trying to reduce spending in the courts.
