Today's video story: A scandal over combustible cladding on high-rise residential blocks in Britain’s capital, London, is fast becoming an international issue. Since the Grenfell Tower fire in London, hundreds of similar tower blocks are now being inspected and dozens found to be unsafe. And as far away as Australia, there were warnings raised more than two years ago.


Focus of the day story: The legal profession has turned in a respectable performance in the UK’s first-ever Social Mobility Employer Index. The Top 50 employers included a remarkable 16 national and international law firms. The Index ranks employers on the actions they are taking to improve social mobility, and to recruit and progress talented employees from all backgrounds. It is a joint initiative between the Social Mobility Foundation and Social Mobility Commission, in partnership with the City of London Corporation. Full story: New Law Journal

Today's video story: When Zimbabwean Blessing Fire was born, he was told by doctors he would never be able to walk like a "normal child", but no-one said anything about breakdancing. He uses crutches or a wheelchair to move long distances but is able to walk. His brother's gymnastics inspired him to take up breakdancing and now he dances in an award-winning crew.

Today's video story: Drone footage captured the devastation of forest fires Pedrogao Grande, Wednesday. The fire was reportedly continuing in other parts of the area earlier on Wednesday, as temperatures continued to remain high. A huge forest fire engulfed Pedrogao Grande on June 18. More than 600 firefighters have battled to extinguish the fires in the municipality. The blaze has so far claimed at least 64 people dead and more than 150 injured.


Focus of the day story:  The failure of a pioneering online court in The Netherlands should not deter efforts to build more ambitious version in England and Wales, the Master of the Rolls has said. In a lecture this month, Sir Terence Etherton laid out for the first time the scale of the ambition behind the proposed ‘Online Solutions Court’, which will be designed to operate largely without lawyers and to dispense with ‘preventive justice’. Today's video story: A year-long investigation has uncovered evidence that the UK defence giant BAE Systems has made large-scale sales across the Middle East of sophisticated surveillance technology, including to many repressive governments. These sales have also included decryption software which could be used against the UK and its allies. Much of this technology, which is covered by the same international laws as military equipment, has come from a British company. It's an important tool in the fight against terrorism but as Nawal Al Maghafi reports it may have been used by repressive governments to silence dissent and human rights campaigners
