Today's video story: A scandal over combustible cladding on high-rise residential blocks in Britain’s capital, London, is fast becoming an international issue. Since the Grenfell Tower fire in London, hundreds of similar tower blocks are now being inspected and dozens found to be unsafe. And as far away as Australia, there were warnings raised more than two years ago.
Focus of the day story: The legal profession has turned in a respectable performance in the UK’s first-ever Social Mobility Employer Index. The Top 50 employers included a remarkable 16 national and international law firms. The Index ranks employers on the actions they are taking to improve social mobility, and to recruit and progress talented employees from all backgrounds. It is a joint initiative between the Social Mobility Foundation and Social Mobility Commission, in partnership with the City of London Corporation. Full story: New Law Journal
