FOCUS OF THE DAY: Silk appointments 2015 – Why be a QC? The ‘new’ silks appointment system has now been in place for nine years. This year’s round of appointments, announced last month, suggests a stabilisation of the revamped system. While the number of applicants was roughly steady on 2013/14, with 223 hopefuls this year compared with 225 the previous year, the tally of successful silks slipped from 100 to 93.
