The protesters took to streets to demonstrate against the Turkish military actions against Kurdish forces in northern Syria. They were met by a heavy police presence. According to reports, at least 12 people were detained when scuffles broke out between protesters and police.


Focus of the Day Story: Fraud quadrupled in the charity sector and in the financial services sector last year, as reported cases reached an all-time high. Fraudsters seized £2.11bn last year, a rise of 538% on 2003 figures. And the rise in value was matched by a sharp increase in volume—there were 577 cases last year compared to just 212 in 2003.
