 Focus of the Day Article: The Legal Ombudsman (LeO) is “setting itself up to fail” by proposing to give itself more work than it can cope with and asking for an “extraordinary high” budget increase of 19%, the Bar Council has warned.  Today's Highlighted Video Story: Almost two thirds of UK firms have been experiencing "significant disruption" to their supply chains across the EU border since the start of this year, according to the manufacturers’ association, Make UK. Many claim that the extra paperwork required since the end of the Brexit transition period has meant delays for firms trying to export and import goods into Europe and they are urging the government to solve the problem.

 Today's Highlighted Video Story: The French government will shut the state’s borders to all traffic to and from countries outside of the EU as of Sunday, Prime Minister Jean Castex has announced, in an effort to ward off yet another Covid lockdown in France. Speaking in a televised address after meeting with President Emmanuel Macron and senior ministers, Castex said that officials had decided against introducing a new national lockdown in a drastic bid to curb new Covid infections. Instead, tighter border controls are being introduced alongside tougher action against covid rule-breakers.
