Lisa Christensen, an alternate juror in Derek Chauvin's trial, told reporters that Dr. Martin Tobin, the doctor who explained how George Floyd died, convinced her of the former police officer's guilt. As an alternate juror, Christensen sat through the entire trial but was dismissed prior to deliberations, so she was not one of the 12 jurors who voted to convict Chauvin on two counts of murder and one count of manslaughter.

Indigenous young people make up 50 per cent of those in youth detention, while comprising just five per cent of the population. While the conviction of former Minnesota police officer Derek Chauvin for the killing of African-American George Floyd has no official or legal precedent for Australia, Indigenous leaders in this country think it can bring important societal change.

The High Court has refused relief from sanctions to a party where the solicitors blamed Covid restrictions for a trainee not sending a claim form with other documents. The form was emailed four days late in a contractual claim worth £683,000, and Mrs Justice O’Farrell DBE ruled in Boxwood Leisure Ltd v Gleeson Construction Services Ltd & Anor that the court could not grant leniency for the error.
