Today's Video Focus: Moroccan police used water cannons to disperse thousands of young teachers rallying in the capital city of Rabat on Sunday, as they protested for better work conditions. Some protesters were filmed with leg injuries as clashes erupted between riot police and protesters. An estimated 15,000 teachers gathered in front of parliament, reportedly chanting "liberty, dignity, social justice." According to reports full benefits and pensions were among the protesters’ demands.




Focus of the Day Story:
Bar Council calls on DPP to address pay ‘iniquity’. Self-employed barristers prosecuting cases deserve parity with lawyers employed by the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), the Bar Council has said. Earlier this month, the civil service trade union, the FDA, negotiated a 10% pay rise for CPS Crown Prosecutors; increases of up to 8% for prosecutors, professionals and senior managers; and a 13.5% increase in overtime rates. The rises will be paid over the course of two years.

Today's Video Focus: Weeks after the worst escalation between New Delhi and Islamabad since the 1999 Kargil War, Pakistan Prime Minister Imran Khan said on Friday that PM Narendra Modi sent him greetings on the eve of Pakistan's National Day. Mr Khan, in a tweet, said PM Modi told him that it is time for people of the subcontinent to work together "for a peaceful and prosperous region, in an atmosphere free of terror and violence".

To give you a few examples, customers won't be able to claim for a lot of natural therapies and there will be discounts for people under thirty who take out policies. So far, no-one can say for sure what it will do to the price of premiums which have been going up and up. The changes come as one survey shows private health insurance is now the number one concern for Australian families. Consumer group CHOICE has found that for the first time families are more worried about the cost of private health insurance than electricity.

Focus of the Day Article: The Legal Aid Agency has been testing technology that enables it to inspect a client’s bank account to speed up assessments of financial means. Malcolm Bryant, head of high cost civil complex cases, told the Gazette that the ‘open banking technology’ was tested in a safe environment and the agency is now ‘moving to some live cases’. Bryant spoke about the project at a Westminster Legal Policy Forum on legal aid this morning. The project is part of the agency’s ‘transformation programme’, a blueprint for what the agency wants to look like by 2020. Bryant said UK citizens are much more digital now than they have ever been and the agency must ensure it can mirror their digital expectations.
