FOCUS OF THE DAY story:  Rules for firms on publishing price information could be unveiled as soon as this summer, the Solicitors Regulation Authority confirmed today. The regulator says it will respond quickly to the request from the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) for more transparency in the legal services market. FOCUS OF THE DAY story: The Supreme Court decision on bus company’s duties to wheelchair users strikes a “balance” between the law and real-life practicalities, a leading discrimination law solicitor has said. The case of FirstGroup plc v Paulley [2017] UKSC 4 arose from an incident in 2012 on a bus from Wetherby to Leeds, where a woman with a sleeping child in a buggy refused to move to allow wheelchair user, Doug Paulley, to take her place. The woman said her buggy would not fold. Paulley sued for unlawful discrimination on the grounds of disability. Full story - New Law Journal

The activist behind most of the complaints and corrections says inaccurate media reporting about Muslims has led to increased hatred. But critics argue there is an attempt to prevent criticism of Islam. The most high profile apology last month was given to a Muslim family falsely accused of being extremists by columnist Katie Hopkins in the Mail Online – one of the family has told our reporter that he would now like to invite Katie Hopkins for tea at his house.
