Focus of the Day Article: According to the Family Court Quarterly Statistics for April to June 2019, published last week, 28,144 divorce petitions were made, a fall of 13%, while financial remedy cases fell 5%. Divorces take longer on average, up five weeks to 33 weeks for decree nisi and up three weeks to 58 weeks for Decree Absolute. Lam said that the ban will take effect on Saturday, October 5. Reports said that the ban will be effective as early as midnight.

BAILII has a contract with the Ministry of Justice to provide free access to case law to the public. This week, it tweeted a letter that the ministry sent to someone in France this month who asked to reuse some of the judgments published on BAILII's website under the Open Government Licence.
