Today's Video Focus:  Police scuffled with demonstrators in Cape Town on Friday, as women returned to the streets calling for an end to gender-based violence in South Africa. Riot police confronted protesters, mainly women, as they demanded the government to take action following a spike in rapes and killings earlier this month. Many carried signs and attempted to physically attack police forces, who shoved them in response. The protest took place a day after thousands of women rallied outside parliament to pressure president Cyril Ramaphosa into declaring a state of emergency due to the rate of violence against women.


Focus of the Day Article: Vulnerable claimants and defendants should be given more support, the Civil Justice Council (CJC) has said in a report with seven recommendations for change. Full story - New Law Journal
