Today's Video Focus: The US President has confirmed for the first time that he made a six figure payment to his lawyer, believed to be reimbursement for hush money paid to Stormy Daniels. She's an adult film star who claims she had an affair with Donald Trump, and she received the payment to keep her mouth shut during the 2016 presidential campaign. Donald Trump's personal lawyer and fixer, Michael Cohen, is currently under investigation for possible bank fraud and campaign violations, and it was reported that government records of suspicious transactions involving Mr Cohen appear to have gone missing.

Focus of the Day story:  MPs have slated government proposals to raise the threshold for small claims. Increasing the small claims limit from £1,000 to £2,000 for employers’ liability and public liability claims, and to £5,000 for road traffic accident-related personal injury, would create significant access to justice concerns, according to a report this week by the Justice Committee. The change would be made by secondary legislation. The winning side cannot recover legal costs for small claims, which means solicitors cannot represent them on a ‘no win, no fee’ basis.
