 Today's Highlighted Video Story: A video showing police officers breaking up a fight between a Black teenager and a White teenager at a New Jersey mall has prompted outrage over the police response.
New Jersey Gov. Phil Murphy said Wednesday that the "appearance of what is racially disparate treatment is deeply, deeply disturbing." The Bridgewater Township Police Department said in a Facebook post that they know video of the incident has upset members of the community. They have asked the Somerset County Prosecutor's Office to investigate the incident.

Focus of the Day Article: Crown court hearings should be conducted remotely ‘where it is lawful and in the interests of justice to do so’, the lord chief justice has recommended in guidance which has been welcomed by the criminal bar. Lord Burnett said hearings including mentions, bail applications, applications to extend custody time limits, uncontested applications under the Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 and hearings involving legal argument only ‘will generally be suitable for remote attendance by all advocates’. After the recent Taliban takeover of Afghanistan, millions of teenage girls have been forbidden from receiving a high school education. Taliban officials have claimed the ban is temporary, but said the same thing the last time they were in power more than two decades ago. Back then, girls of all ages never returned to school. Today, much has changed in the country, and a new generation of girls and women possess radically different aspirations than they were previously allowed to hold. An anxious population waits to see to what extent the Taliban has changed, too.
