Bury St Edmunds in Suffolk will be the most likely venue for a divorce centre for London and the South East, the Ministry of Justice (MoJ) has revealed. FOCUS OF THE DAY: Thousands of complaints continue to be made every week in relation to payment protection insurance, with finance leaders warning the scandal will last for ‘years’, the agency responsible for handling complaints reported today. In its budget for the year ahead, the Financial Ombudsman Service says that it expects to resolve around 320,000 PPI cases in 2014/15 in what has been a ‘challenging year’. FOCUS OF THE DAY: Failure to undertake continuous professional development (CPD) will be an “aggravating factor” when enforcement decisions are made against those guilty of incompetence, the Solicitors Regulation Authority (SRA) has said. The warning comes in an application made by the regulator to the Legal Services Board (LSB) just before Christmas, seeking approval for rule changes which would sweep away the current hours-based CPD system.
